LUANG PHOR KHAO

Luang Phor Khao Analayo is the senior disciple of Ajarn Mun Bhuridatta. Ajarn Mun is well-known meditation monks or people would know him as the Thai Forest Tradition or “Kammaṭṭhāna tradition” monk. Before Luang Phor Khao ordained as a monk, his name was Khao Karatha. Luang Phor Khao was born on 28th December BE 2431 at the village of Ban Bo Cha Nang Nong Kaea Sub District, Amnat Charoen District, Ubon Ratchathani Province. His father was known as Mr Puo and his mother was known as Mrs Rod. Both of his parents were farmers. When he was young, Luang Phor Khao received his education at Wat Bo Cha Nang which was located in his hometown. Later on in his life, he got married with his wife and had seven children.

Something happened to Luang Phor Khao in BE 2462, as he had some matrimonial problems. This led Luang Phor Khao to be ordained as a monk at Wat Bo Cha Nang.

In BE 2476, Luang Phor Khao found that there was a famous and skilled meditation monk who was Ajarn Mun. Upon knowing this, Luang Phor Khao headed to the north to found Ajarn Mun. And spent many years learning from Ajarn Mun until he could master the art of meditation from Ajarn Mun.

By BE 2488, 12 years later Luang Phor Khao returned back to his hometown and stayed at Wat Po Cha Nang.

In BE 2501, Luang Phor Khao went to Wat Tam Klong Phane and stayed there until he passed away at the age of 95 on 16th May BE 2526. Many believed that Luang Phor Khao had reached the stage of “Arahantship” (Full Enlightenment).

Luang Phor Khao was born in BE 2431 in a small village in Ubon Ratchathani, Northeast Thailand .

When he was 20 years old, his parents took charge of the marriage. He married a woman and gave birth to seven children However, the good times did not last long. After going out to work once, when he returned to the village, he saw that his wife was unfaithful to him. In his anger, he wanted to raise a knife and hack his wife to death, so as to restore his rationality at a critical moment, forgive his wife, and decide to fulfill her, while he chose to become a monk, hoping to find a way to eliminate the pain through Buddhism So, in When Luang Phor Khao was 31 years old in BE 2462 , he was officially ordained as a monk .

The first years of practicing Luang Phor Khao were all carried out in temples. Later, he began to practice asceticism to find Ajarn Mun, who was already famous at that time . By chance , I heard that Ajarn Mun had arrived at a place, and he had disappeared when he passed by Fortunately, these ascetic practices were not without gains , and Luang Phor Khao could still visit different eminent monks on the way Many years later, Luang Phor Khao also heard that Ajarn Mun was in Chiang Mai in northern Thailand, so in order to meet his master, Luang Phor Khao started to search again. On the way, he met his good friend Ajarn Van Sucinno . After walking with him , he finally found Ajarn Mun . .Both of them worshiped Ajarn Mun as their teacher and studied meditation and spells .

The practice of meditation is a test of the monk’s state of mind. At that time, Ajarn Mun practiced meditation in the forest. After sitting in meditation for a period of time, he would change places, because he believed that once he was familiar with the environment in a place, his vigilance would be reduced. The state of mind will also be unstable . After practicing in Chiang Mai for many years, Luang Phor Khao finally reached a state he expected, and then returned to the northeastern part of Thailand in BE 2479 to continue practicing until BE 2501 . He settled down in Wat Tam Klong Phane until he passed away in BE 2526. During the period in BE 2518 , Thailand was experiencing civil strife, and the armed groups were in turmoil. At that time, the Thai emperor went to the temple of Luang Phor Khao to meet him Ask what is the biggest problem facing the country now . It can be seen that Luang Phor Khao is also a holy monk .
