Wat Kudi Rai (วัดกุฏีราย) built since 16th century or earlier by sukothai kingdom. Wat Kudi Rai stands along the west bank of the Yom river just outside the north corner of the city wall. The temple comprises two well-preserved mandapa and the ruins of a viharn (assembly hall) and ubosot (ordination hall) which sat in front. The east mandapa, closest to the road, once contained a seated Buddha image, but this is no longer extant except for a portion of the base of the statue.
This monastery is one of the most sacred places on that time and has two mandapa used for puja and honoring the Lord Buddha,
around Mandapa there is a stupa which is said to contain many sacred object like votive tablet ( Phra Kru ) , Bucha and holy object which has been stored there for more than 700 years.
In this Chedi Wat Kudi Rai found some famous phim of phra kru like Phra Nakprok, Phra Ped Lok, and Phra Leela. All Phra Kru from this Chedi are believed have blessing power for bring smooth life and success for the wearer.
The Kingdom of Sukhothai ( สุโขทัย ) was an early kingdom in the area around the city Sukhothai, in north central Thailand. The Kingdom existed from 1238 until 1438. The Sukhothai period is regarded as the “Golden Age of Buddhism” in the history of Thailand. The arrival of Buddhism in Thailand can be supported by the archaeological evidence and literary accounts as well as other geographical and historical records and traditional beliefs, It was in this period that Ramkhamhaeng the great king of Sukhothai sent messengers to invite the group of monks at the town of Nakhon Si Thammarat then known as the “Lankavamsa” monks to preach the doctrine at Sukhothai, promoting them every help and convenience. Since then Lankavamsa or Lankavong Theravada Buddhism was well patronized by king Ramkhamhaeng, it
finally superseded the existing previous beliefs..
