Lengend of Khun Paen Wat Bangkrang

Legendary Khun Paen lived between 1491-1529. He is the legendary Ayuthaya warrior living some 450 years ago.

His name later became the name of a kind of votive tablets found at Wat Bankrang, Suphanburi Province, about a century ago. Khun paen was born in Suphanburi but grew up in the close bordered Kanchanaburi Province.

He was a disciple of Archan Kong, a magic-expert guru monk, for magical studies. By his skillful fighting, he was appointed by the king to be Khun or a high ranking military officer.

Bangkrang Temple is located at Sri-Chan District , Supanburi Province . It was built in Ayuttaya Era 400 Years ago by King NareSuan , who was the greatest King of Thailand , with his restoration of independence from Myanmar invansion .

During the war with Myanmar , King NareSuan lead the troops to fight againt the enemy , he built big ceremony of Khun Paen Amulet at Bang Kang Temple for the soldiers to wear these Buddhist Amulets in order to boost their morale , after having won the war , soldiers kept all Phra Khun Paen at Bang Kang Temple inside Pagoda . Phra Khun Paen of Bang Kang Temple comprise about 30 moulds.

Wat Bang Krang , temple of the oldest Phra Khun Paen amulet in Thailand. It was created by King Naresuan in commemoration of victory against King of Burma in year B.E 2135. The Phra Khun Paen amulets were kept inside the chedi with amount of 84000 pieces.
